The word this afternoon is still good.
The hospital has completed the tracheostomy and moved the ventilator tubing from his mouth to the trach hole in his neck. This is normal procedure for someone on a ventilator as long as James. In addition, the feeding tube has been removed from his nose and inserted thru his stomach area body wall directly into the stomach.
All of his vital signs are good. He is still not awake / fully aware due to the sedation and pain meds. With continued improvement, hopefully he will tolerate less sedation over the next few days. If so, hopefully we will be able to communicate clearly with him and explain what has happened.
Thank you for all of your support.
