James has had a good day.
The ventilator is still providing 40% oxygen with the ECMO running at only 40%. He has done so well throughout the day, they have decreased some of his sedation medication.
By this evening he has started to comprehend commands. When asked, he has squeezed the nurse's hand and moved his feet. This is significant.
The sedation medication will be further be decreased throughout the night. There is a chance that he may be taken off the ECMO machine tomorrow. That would be a major step forward.
Way to go Jimmy!
